Spicy Louisiana Shrimp Dip is a creamy, flavorful appetizer featuring cajun-seasoned shrimp mixed with cream cheese, mayonnaise, and Parmesan, baked in a sourdough bread bowl for a deliciously spicy party hit.

Ingredients

Scale

Vegetables & Herbs

  • 1/4 cup chives or minced green onions
  • 1 red bell pepper, minced
  • 1 lemon, zested

Dairy & Condiments

  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 8 ounces cream cheese
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese

Seafood

  • 12 ounces SeaPak Shrimp Scampi, defrosted and diced

Spices & Sauces

  • 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice

Other

  • 1 sourdough bread loaf (for the bread bowl)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit to prepare for baking the dip.
  2. Prepare the shrimp: Defrost the SeaPak Shrimp Scampi fully, drain off any excess liquid, then chop the shrimp into ½ inch dice pieces for even distribution in the dip.
  3. Mix the dip ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine chives (or green onions), minced red bell pepper, mayonnaise, cream cheese, Parmesan cheese, chopped shrimp, lemon juice, lemon zest, Cajun seasoning, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir well until all ingredients are thoroughly incorporated.
  4. Prepare the bread bowl: Cut the top off the sourdough loaf to create a lid. Carefully scoop out the soft interior of the bread, leaving about a ½ inch thick wall to hold the dip without leaking.
  5. Fill the bread bowl: Spoon the prepared shrimp dip mixture into the hollowed bread bowl, filling it evenly to the top.
  6. Bake the dip: Place the filled bread bowl on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 18 to 20 minutes, or until the dip is bubbly and the bread is toasted and golden brown.
  7. Serve: Remove from oven and serve immediately with crackers or sliced baguette for dipping.

Notes

  • For more heat, increase the amount of Cajun seasoning or add a pinch of cayenne pepper.
  • You can substitute regular shrimp if SeaPak is unavailable.
  • Use a sturdy sourdough loaf to ensure the bread bowl holds the dip without leaking.
  • Prepare the dip a few hours ahead and refrigerate; bring to room temperature before baking.
  • Serve immediately after baking for best texture and flavor.
