Ingredients

Scale

Slider Ingredients

  • 12 slider rolls (Hawaiian rolls or brioche sliders)
  • 1.5 lbs thinly sliced ham
  • 1 lb Swiss cheese (sliced)
  • ½ cup dill pickle slices (more to preference, preferably thinly sliced)

Spread Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 3 tbsp Dijon mustard

Garlic Pickle Butter

  • ½ cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tbsp pickle juice
  • ½ tsp pickle seasoning
  • 1 tsp poppy seeds (optional)
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley (chopped, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking the sliders.
  2. Make the Garlic Pickle Butter: Melt ½ cup of butter in a small saucepan over low heat. Stir in 1 tsp of minced garlic, ½ tsp of pickle seasoning, and 1 tbsp of pickle juice. Set this flavorful butter aside.
  3. Prepare the Baking Dish: Grease the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish with a thin layer of the garlic pickle butter mixture. Optionally use parchment paper for easier cleanup.
  4. Slice the Rolls: Keeping the 12 slider rolls connected, slice them horizontally to create a top and bottom half. Place the bottom half into the prepared baking dish.
  5. Add the Mayo-Mustard Spread: In a small bowl, combine 3 tbsp mayo and 3 tbsp Dijon mustard. Spread this mixture evenly across the inside of the top half of the rolls to add tangy flavor.
  6. Layer the Fillings: Layer the thinly sliced ham evenly over the bottom half of the rolls, then add a layer of Swiss cheese slices followed by the dill pickle slices.
  7. Assemble the Sliders: Place the top half of the rolls over the layered fillings, pressing down lightly to keep everything together.
  8. Brush with Butter and Add Poppy Seeds: Generously brush the remaining garlic pickle butter over the tops of the rolls. If desired, sprinkle 1 tsp of poppy seeds over the buttered tops for extra texture and flavor.
  9. Bake: Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 10 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 5 to 7 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and the cheese has melted beautifully.
  10. Finish and Serve: Once baked, sprinkle freshly chopped parsley over the sliders. Allow them to cool slightly before slicing apart and serving warm.

Notes

  • You can use Hawaiian rolls or brioche sliders depending on your preference for sweetness and texture.
  • Grillo’s thinly sliced dill pickles work particularly well for this recipe.
  • For easier cleanup, line your baking dish with parchment paper before greasing.
  • Adjust the number of pickle slices based on your taste preference for tanginess.
  • These sliders are best enjoyed warm fresh out of the oven for melty cheese and soft bread.
  • If poppy seeds are unavailable or unwanted, simply omit them without affecting the flavor.
