Ingredients

Scale

Meat and Cheese

  • 1 lb thinly sliced ribeye steak
  • 4 slices provolone cheese

Vegetables

  • 1 cup sautéed onions (about 1 large onion)
  • 1 cup sautéed bell peppers (about 1 large bell pepper)

Bread and Butter

  • 4 soft hoagie rolls
  • 2 tbsp butter

Seasonings

  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Prep Ingredients: Thinly slice the ribeye steak, onions, and bell peppers to prepare for cooking.
  2. Sauté Vegetables: Heat a skillet over medium heat, add onions and bell peppers, and cook until softened, about 5 to 7 minutes.
  3. Cook Ribeye: Push the sautéed veggies to one side of the skillet. Add the ribeye slices, season with salt and pepper, and cook until browned, approximately 3 to 4 minutes.
  4. Melt Cheese: Mix the provolone cheese into the steak and vegetable mixture, cover the skillet briefly to allow the cheese to melt evenly.
  5. Toast Rolls: In a separate pan, melt butter and toast the hoagie rolls face down for 1 to 2 minutes until lightly golden and crisp.
  6. Assemble Sandwiches: Fill each toasted roll with the cheesy steak and vegetable mixture, serving immediately while hot and melty.

Notes

  • You can substitute ribeye with sirloin or flank steak if preferred.
  • For extra flavor, add a dash of Worcestershire sauce when cooking the steak.
  • If you like spicy, include some sliced jalapeños or hot sauce in the filling.
  • To keep the sandwich warm, wrap it in foil after assembling and place in a low oven for a few minutes.
  • This recipe yields 4 sandwiches, perfect for a family meal or casual gathering.
