Potato Mixture:

  • 2 pounds potatoes, parboiled and grated

Instructions

  1. Cut and Parboil Potatoes: Cut the potatoes into fourths and parboil them in generously salted water.
  2. Grate Potatoes: Once cooled, grate the potatoes using the large holes of a grater.
  3. Prepare Mixture: Place the grated potatoes in a bowl and add flour, salt, pepper, and onions. Mix gently and let it sit for 5 minutes.
  4. Shape Tater Tots: Heat oil to 355-360F. Use 1 1/2 teaspoons of the potato mixture to shape each tot.
  5. Fry: Fry the tater tots in batches until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
  6. Air Fryer Option: Chill tater tots, lightly spray with olive oil, and air fry at 400℉ for about 10 minutes, flipping halfway through.

  • For a healthier option, try baking the tater tots in the oven instead of frying.
