Hamburger Steaks

  • 1.3 pounds ground beef
  • 4 tbsp breadcrumbs
  • 1 yellow onion (grated)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp heavy cream
  • 1 egg

Creamy Dill Sauce

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 yellow onion (diced)
  • 2 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup low sodium chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp chopped dill (more for serving)

Instructions

  1. Prepping: Start with making the hamburger steaks. Grate the onion into a large bowl. Add ground beef, breadcrumbs, salt, pepper, cream, and egg. Mix until just combined. Shape into 4 patties and set aside.
  2. Chopping: Finely chop the onion, mince the garlic, and chop the dill.
  3. Searing: Heat oil and butter in a skillet. Cook hamburger steaks for 4-5 minutes per side. Transfer to a plate.
  4. Cooking: Cook garlic and onion until fragrant. Add salt, pepper, flour, and broth. Simmer for 2 minutes.
  5. Simmering: Add cream and dill, simmer until thickened. Return steaks to the skillet, simmer until cooked through. Serve hot with dill and pepper.

  • You can serve the hamburger steaks with mashed potatoes or steamed vegetables for a complete meal.
  • Adjust the amount of dill according to your preference for a stronger or milder dill flavor.
