Rolls
- 1 package Savory Butter Hawaiian Rolls (12 count)
Filling
- 12 slices Black Forest ham
- 6 slices Havarti cheese
Buttery Topping
- 4 tbsp salted butter
- 1 tsp Dijon mustard
- 1/4 tsp Worcestershire sauce (optional)
- 1/4 tsp onion powder (optional)
- 1 tbsp poppy seeds
- Prepare rolls and baking dish: Slice the entire block of Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally without separating the individual rolls. Remove the top half and set aside. Lightly grease a 9×12 inch baking pan with butter and place the bottom half of the rolls into the pan.
- Add ham and cheese: Layer each roll in the bottom half with one slice of Black Forest ham and half a slice of Havarti cheese, distributing evenly across all rolls.
- Prepare and add buttery topping: In a microwavable bowl, melt the salted butter by heating it covered for about 30 seconds. Stir in Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, and poppy seeds until well combined. Place the top half of the rolls back onto the filled bottom half. Brush the tops thoroughly with the buttery poppy seed mixture.
- Bake: Loosely cover the baking pan with aluminum foil and bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 15 minutes. Remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 5 minutes or until the cheese has melted and the tops of the buns turn golden brown.
Notes
- Do not separate the rolls when slicing to keep them intact and easy to pull apart after baking.
- Worcestershire sauce and onion powder are optional but add extra depth of flavor to the buttery topping.
- You can substitute Havarti cheese with other mild cheeses like Swiss or mozzarella if preferred.
- For a spicier version, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or use spicy mustard instead of Dijon.
- These sliders are best served warm and fresh but can be stored covered in the refrigerator and reheated gently before serving.
