  • 3⁄4 cup butter
  • 3⁄4 cup white sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1⁄4 cup milk
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts

Honey Syrup:

  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup honey
  • 3⁄4 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease/flour a 9-inch square pan.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: Combine flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and orange zest in a bowl.
  3. Cream Butter and Sugar: In a large bowl, cream butter and 3/4 cup sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time.
  4. Combine Ingredients: Gradually mix in the flour mixture and milk. Stir in walnuts.
  5. Bake: Pour batter into pan and bake for 40 minutes. Cool for 15 minutes before cutting.
  6. Make Honey Syrup: In a saucepan, simmer honey, 1 cup sugar, and water for 5 minutes. Add lemon juice and boil for 2 minutes.
  7. Finish Cake: Cut cooled cake into diamond shapes and pour honey syrup over the top.
