Ingredients

Scale

Golden Milk Latte

  • 250ml unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 tsp (5g) cinnamon powder
  • 1/2 tsp (2.5g) roughly ground cardamoms
  • 1/4 tsp (1.25g) ground black pepper
  • 10g freshly grated ginger
  • 1 tsp (5g) turmeric powder
  • 2 tsp agave syrup (optional)

Vegan Whipped Cream (Optional)

  • 50ml vegan whipped cream (e.g., Flora)
  • 5g agave syrup
  • Pinch of cinnamon
  • Pinch of cardamom

Instructions

  1. Heat the milk and spices: In a small pot, combine the almond milk with cinnamon powder, roughly ground cardamoms, ground black pepper, freshly grated ginger, and turmeric powder. Heat the mixture gently over medium-low heat.
  2. Steep the flavors: Allow the milk and spices to steep together for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally to infuse the flavors thoroughly.
  3. Strain the mixture: Pour the hot golden milk through a fine sieve into your cup to remove the solid spices and ginger pieces, leaving a smooth latte.
  4. Add sweetness: Stir in 2 teaspoons of agave syrup if you prefer a sweeter drink.
  5. Prepare vegan whipped cream (optional): In a bowl, whip the vegan whipped cream with 5g agave syrup until soft peaks form. Add a pinch of cinnamon and cardamom and lightly fold in the spices for extra flavor.
  6. Serve and enjoy: Add a dollop of the spiced vegan whipped cream on top of your golden milk latte and enjoy immediately while warm.

Notes

  • You can replace almond milk with any other plant-based milk such as oat or soy milk.
  • Adjust the amount of black pepper to taste; it enhances the absorption of turmeric’s active compounds.
  • For a stronger ginger flavor, add more freshly grated ginger before heating.
  • The turmeric powder not only adds flavor but also gives the drink its distinctive golden color.
  • Serve immediately for the best taste and warmth.
  • Store leftover golden milk in the refrigerator and reheat gently before drinking.
