Ingredients

Scale

Lobster Tails

  • 4 lobster tails

Garlic Butter Sauce

  • 4 tablespoons butter, divided
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1½ cups heavy cream
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the lobster tails: Thaw the lobster tails completely if frozen, either overnight in the refrigerator or using the cold water method in a sealed bag. Using kitchen shears or a sharp knife, carefully cut down the top center of the lobster tail shell without cutting through the tail fin. Spread the shell open to expose the meat. Optionally, loosen the meat and lift it over the shell to ‘butterfly’ the lobster tail for better sauce coverage. Remove the dark vein along the top of the lobster meat by making a shallow cut and lifting it out with a knife tip.
  2. Create the garlic butter sauce: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt 2 tablespoons of butter. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1 to 2 minutes until fragrant and lightly golden, avoiding any burning. Pour in the heavy cream, stirring to combine, and bring to a gentle simmer. Let it simmer for 3 to 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until slightly thickened. Gradually whisk in grated Parmesan cheese until the sauce is smooth and creamy. Stir in lemon juice and season with salt and pepper to taste, keeping seasoning light as lobster and Parmesan add natural saltiness.
  3. Preheat the oven and arrange lobster tails: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Place the prepared lobster tails on a baking sheet, ensuring they are spaced out without crowding.
  4. Add butter and sauce to lobster tails: Drizzle the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter evenly over the exposed lobster meat to keep it moist and rich. Spoon a generous amount of the prepared garlic butter cream sauce over each lobster tail, coating the meat thoroughly for maximum flavor.
  5. Bake the lobster tails: Place the baking sheet into the preheated oven and bake for 10 to 15 minutes, or until the lobster meat is opaque and cooked through. Avoid overcooking to prevent toughness; the meat should turn pearly white and no longer translucent.
  6. Garnish and serve: Carefully remove the lobster tails from the oven. Garnish with fresh chopped parsley to add a pop of color and fresh herbaceous notes. Serve immediately while hot and creamy, ideally with crusty bread, a light salad, or roasted vegetables to complement the rich flavors.

Notes

  • For frozen lobster tails, ensure they are fully thawed before preparing to cook evenly.
  • If fresh garlic is unavailable, substitute with 1 teaspoon garlic powder per garlic clove; add powder at the end of melting butter to avoid burning.
  • Monitor lobster tails closely while baking to avoid overcooking; undercooked lobster can be returned to the oven for a minute or two if needed.
  • A squeeze of fresh lemon juice added to melted butter before serving enhances brightness and balances richness.
  • To add heat, sprinkle a pinch of red pepper flakes into the garlic butter sauce while cooking.
  • Fresh herbs like parsley or chives can be added to the sauce or as garnish for added freshness and color.
