  • 1 clove garlic, minced

Chili Oil Dipping Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons (30ml) chili oil
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon (5ml) honey
  • Splash of rice vinegar (about 1 teaspoon or 5ml)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Spicy Mayo: In a small bowl, whisk together 1/2 cup mayonnaise, 2 tablespoons Sriracha, and 1 teaspoon sesame oil until smooth. Adjust the amount of Sriracha to your preferred spice level.
  2. Make Sweet Soy Glaze: In a small saucepan, combine 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce, 2 tablespoons honey, and 1 tablespoon rice vinegar. Heat over low heat gently, stirring occasionally for about 5 minutes until the mixture slightly thickens. Remove from heat and let cool.
  3. Mix Wasabi Cream Sauce: Combine 1/2 cup mayonnaise, 1 tablespoon wasabi paste, and 1 teaspoon rice vinegar in a bowl. Whisk until creamy, adjusting the wasabi quantity to taste for desired heat.
  4. Prepare Ginger Garlic Sauce: In a bowl, mix 2 tablespoons soy sauce, 1 tablespoon rice vinegar, 1 teaspoon sesame oil, 1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger, and 1 minced garlic clove. Stir well to blend all flavors.
  5. Make Chili Oil Dipping Sauce: Combine 2 tablespoons chili oil, 1 tablespoon soy sauce, 1 teaspoon honey, and a splash of rice vinegar in a small bowl. Stir thoroughly until well combined for a balanced tangy, spicy dip.

Notes

  • Adjust the heat in spicy sauces by adding more or less Sriracha and wasabi according to taste.
  • The sweet soy glaze can be used as a drizzle or a sushi roll dipping sauce.
  • All sauces keep well refrigerated in airtight containers for up to 5 days.
  • Use low-sodium soy sauce to prevent overly salty flavors, especially important in the glaze and dipping sauces.
  • Fresh ginger enhances the ginger garlic sauce, but pre-grated ginger can be a convenient substitute.
