Blueberry Sauce Ingredients

  • 1 cup blueberries
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon water
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients: In a saucepan, add the blueberries, water, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and lemon juice. Stir gently to combine all the ingredients.
  2. Bring to Boil: Place the saucepan over medium-high heat and bring the mixture to a boil, stirring occasionally to dissolve the sugar.
  3. Simmer and Thicken: Reduce heat to low and add the cornstarch slurry (cornstarch mixed with water). Stir continuously and simmer for 3 to 5 minutes until the sauce thickens to your desired consistency.
  4. Cool and Serve: Remove from heat and let the blueberry sauce cool slightly before serving. It can be enjoyed warm or chilled as a topping.

Notes

  • If you prefer a smoother sauce, you can mash the blueberries slightly while cooking or blend the sauce after it cools.
  • Adjust the sugar amount according to your taste or based on the sweetness of your blueberries.
  • Store leftover sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
  • This sauce can also be frozen for up to 3 months.
