Ingredients

Scale

Chocolate Layer

  • 12 oz bag of Milk Chocolate Chips (divided into 1 ¾ cups and remaining for drizzle)

Fruit & Caramel Layer

  • 1 Green apple, diced and patted dry
  • 35 individually wrapped Caramels (or 13.5 oz Caramel dip)

Pretzel Layer

  • 16 oz bag of Pretzels

Instructions

  1. Melt Chocolate: Place 1 ¾ cups of milk chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in 15-second intervals, stirring between each, until completely smooth and melted.
  2. Spread Chocolate Base: Pour the melted chocolate onto a parchment-lined baking sheet. Use a rubber spatula to evenly spread the chocolate into a rectangular shape, about ¼ inch thick.
  3. Add Pretzel Layer: Immediately layer the pretzels evenly over the melted chocolate until fully covered, pressing gently to ensure they stick.
  4. Prepare Apples: Dice the green apple into small pieces. Use a paper towel to dab and remove excess moisture from the apple pieces to prevent runny caramel.
  5. Melt Caramel: Unwrap the caramels and place them in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in 15-second increments, stirring each time, until the caramel is fully melted and smooth.
  6. Combine Apples and Caramel: Stir the diced apples into the melted caramel until all pieces are evenly coated.
  7. Spread Caramel Apple Layer: Spoon and spread the caramel and apple mixture evenly over the pretzels and chocolate layer.
  8. Chill: Place the baking sheet in the refrigerator and let it sit for 30 minutes to set.
  9. Drizzle Remaining Chocolate: Melt the remaining chocolate chips using the microwave method and drizzle it over the chilled caramel apple layer for decoration.
  10. Final Chill: Return the bark to the refrigerator and chill for at least one hour to fully firm up.
  11. Cut and Serve: Remove from the fridge and slice the bark into bite-sized pieces. Keep refrigerated until ready to serve to maintain freshness and crunch.

Notes

  • Serve the bark the same day it is made to keep pretzels crisp and prevent apples from releasing excess moisture.
  • Ensure apples are thoroughly dried to avoid runny caramel and soggy bark.
  • Store leftover bark in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • For a nutty twist, consider sprinkling chopped nuts over the caramel layer before chilling.
